Privacy Policy
BTEUP Vault (bteup.in) is an unofficial study resource website for diploma students of the Board of Technical Education Uttar Pradesh (BTEUP). It is not run by BTEUP or by any government body. This policy explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, and the choices you have. In this policy, "we" and "us" mean the administrator of BTEUP Vault.
1. Information we collect
If you only browse. You can search, preview and download study material without an account, and we do not ask for personal information to do this. The site keeps a combined count of visits and a download count for each file. These counts are not linked to you.
If you create an account. You can sign up with an email address, with a mobile number, or with your Google account. We collect your name, the email address or mobile number you sign in with, your branch, your semester, your college name (optional) and a password. If you sign up with an email address, you may also add a mobile number (optional). Passwords are handled by Google Firebase Authentication, and we cannot see your password.
If you choose Google sign-in, we receive your name and email address from Google. We do not receive your Google password. If you sign up with a mobile number, we use the number only as your login ID. We do not send SMS messages and we do not check that the number belongs to you.
If you send a request. When you use the request form for missing notes or question papers, we collect your name, email address, branch, semester, subject and the message you type.
On your device. Your browser stores your bookmarks, your light or dark theme choice, and a short flag that stops the same visit from being counted twice in one tab. This stays on your device. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies.
2. How we use information
- To create your account and sign you in.
- To show your saved bookmarks and fill in the request form for you.
- To read and answer requests for missing study material.
- To keep the site secure and prevent misuse.
- To understand overall usage through visit and download totals.
We do not sell your personal information and we do not use it for advertising.
3. Service providers
We use these services to run the site. They may process data on servers outside India.
- Google Firebase (Authentication and Cloud Firestore) stores account, profile and request data, and runs sign-in. If you use Google sign-in, Google also handles that step under its own privacy policy.
- Cloudinary stores PDF and image files that the administrator uploads.
- Google Drive hosts many of the files. When you open or download a Drive file, Google's own terms and privacy policy apply.
- Netlify hosts the website and may keep standard server logs such as IP address and browser type.
- Google Fonts supplies the site's fonts, so your browser contacts Google servers when a page loads.
4. Who can see your information
Your account details can be read by you and by the site administrator. Request messages can be read by the administrator. Other students cannot see them.
5. How long we keep it
We keep account details until you ask us to delete your account. We keep request messages for as long as needed to deal with the request. Visit and download totals are kept as anonymous totals.
6. Your choices and rights
You can ask us to show you the personal information we hold about you, correct it, or delete it, and you can ask us to delete your account or withdraw your consent. You may have further rights under Indian law, including the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023. We will respond within a reasonable time.
7. Children
Many diploma students are under 18. If you are under 18, create an account only with the permission of a parent or guardian. Browsing and downloading never require an account. If you believe a child has given us personal information without such permission, contact us and we will delete it.
8. Security
Access to our database is limited by security rules, and Firebase stores passwords in hashed form. No method of storing or sending data is completely secure, so please use a password that you do not use anywhere else.
9. Links to other sites
The site links to Google Drive, the official BTEUP website and other sites. We do not control them and this policy does not apply to them.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top shows when it was last changed.
